Lumivio Stream

The video engine of your television service

Lumivio Stream ingests your signals, transcodes them and delivers them to every screen. One engine for ingest, processing, packaging, delivery and recording, managed from the same platform that authorizes every playback.

One guiding principle: the stream does not restart and the subscriber does not buffer.

Continuity prevails over any other optimization. Every design decision in Lumivio Stream starts there: source switching without cuts, transitions verified before activation and delivery designed for real networks.

Capabilities

From the input signal to the subscriber’s screen

Built for operators distributing live television at scale.

  • Ingest

Live signals over the usual industry protocols, with automatic format detection.

  • Transcoding

Adaptive quality profiles per channel, preserving multiple audio tracks.

  • Packaging and delivery

HLS and DASH for televisions, phones and browsers, over modern, efficient transport.

  • Source redundancy

Automatic switching between signals without cuts perceptible to the subscriber.

  • Recording and timeshift

Pause and rewind live television, catch-up to watch what already aired and on-demand recording so each subscriber keeps what matters to them.

  • Built-in CDN

Origin and delivery nodes installed at the operator’s convenience that grow with your subscriber base.

LRT protocol

LRT, the proprietary protocol that binds your CDN

Lumivio Stream nodes talk to each other over LRT, a transport protocol created by Lumivio specifically for live television. Other protocols were born to move files or web pages and were later adapted to video. LRT was born for this: video that arrives on time, protected and without cuts, even on imperfect networks.

  • Sustained low latency

Built for live: video travels on tight margins and repairs are sent only if they can still arrive in time. The network is never spent on data that no longer helps.

  • Repairs before anyone notices

The loss and reordering that real internet paths produce are corrected before the playout deadline. The subscriber never sees the problem because the problem never reaches the screen.

  • Two routes for what matters

A priority channel can travel over two independent paths and be recombined at the destination. If one route fails, the other carries on and the stream does not restart.

  • One channel never drags the rest

A single session carries entire lineups with channels isolated from each other: a channel in trouble does not degrade the others.

  • Encrypted end to end

Every session is mutually authenticated and encrypted with the same hybrid cryptography with post-quantum protection as the rest of the platform, with keys that rotate on their own.

  • Instant start

When joining a channel or after a node change, the protocol sends ahead exactly what is needed so the video starts at once, without waiting.

What makes it different from SRT and QUIC

Open transports are excellent at what they were designed for, and Lumivio Stream speaks them as a matter of course. LRT exists because end-to-end managed television calls for a more specific purpose.

LRT SRT QUIC
Designed for Live television between the nodes of a managed CDN. Carrying one signal from one point to another. The general-purpose web.
Unit of work The full lineup: one session carries hundreds of channels, each one isolated. One connection per channel. Application requests and streams.
How it repairs Repairs only what can still arrive in time to be seen. Retransmits within a fixed window. Guarantees data delivery, even when live no longer needs it.
Priorities Live video rules; everything else yields capacity first. One kind of traffic per connection. Left to each application.
Two routes at once Built in, with recombination at the destination and a single channel identity. Depends on the implementation. Still being standardized.
Encryption and authentication Mutual authentication and hybrid cryptography with post-quantum protection, always. A shared key configured by hand. Standard TLS.

LRT connects the nodes managed by Lumivio. Towards your sources and the rest of the world, Lumivio Stream keeps speaking SRT and the other standard protocols of the industry.

Managed from Lumivio

An engine that is part of the platform, not just another server

Lumivio Stream nodes are managed from the same operations as the rest of the service.

  • Centralized configuration with versioned, verified deployments.
  • Health, metrics and alerts visible to your team.
  • Updates without interrupting playback.
  • An operator console built into every node.
